Welcome to the website of The Egham Band. We are a friendly community
brass band based in Egham, west Surrey, near London, with a history
stretching back over a hundred years. Our busy engagement list includes
community events such as Remembrance Sunday and local carnivals,
along with concerts with guest soloists, recently including Roger
Webster, principal cornet of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and
famous tuba soloist Steve Sykes. We are also available for private
or corporate events.
We regularly compete in the first section, both in local contests
and further afield at the Whit Friday Marches, made famous by the
film "Brassed Off", and at the Bugle Contest in Cornwall.
Egham Junior Brass is our training band and has been ably led by
George O'Mara, 2nd Baritone in the main band, for the past five
years. Egham Junior Brass now has over forty members and puts on
its own events. A rolling recruitment plan is in place for brass
and percussion players.
During the summer, we will be playing at several events in the area,
and our next major concert on 1st November 2008 promises to be a cracker, featuring the talents
of Glyn Williams, Principle Euphonium with the Fodens Band.
In the contest arena, we have continued to build on the successes of last year,
placing fifth on our return to the first section in the area contest in Stevenage,
the band's best ever result.
One of our recent events saw us playing for the Christmas Reindeer
Parade in Windsor in front of over 1000 people:
